The Pentagon’s mandatory human trafficking course will be a testbed for an experimental virtual world for the Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) training system.
The goal is to test whether a virtual world is a more efficient delivery method than the current practice of using the classified SIPRnet and the unclassified NIPRnet and Internet Public Portal, according to JKO deputy program manager Marty Vozzo. The virtual world would be cloud-based and accessible over the Web.
The Combating Traffic in Persons course was chosen first because it is high-volume: all Department of Defense military and civilian personnel must take the training, which takes about an hour to complete. There were 36,000 course completions last year.

ECS, in partnership with Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), is developing an online, companion module to an existing course, Combating Trafficking in Persons (CTIP), using the Office of the Secretary of Defense-sponsored Virtual World Framework (VWF). The VWF companion module will immerse trainees in an environment and allow them to practice recognizing and reacting to indictors of trafficking in persons.

November 1, 2012 - Orlando, FL Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS) announced today that the Cross-Cultural Competence Trainer (3CT) Mobile was selected as a finalist in the 2012 Serious Games Showcase & Challenge (SGS&C), which is held annually at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC). The Joint Staff J7, Joint & Coalition Warfighting (JCW), Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) submitted the entry into the Mobile and Government categories. Engineering & Computer Simulations developed the game under contract to Joint Knowledge Online.

August 2, 2012, Orlando, FL - Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS) announced today that it received a contract from the Joint Staff J7, Joint & Coalition Warfighting (JCW), Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) to translate the previously developed Cross-Cultural Competence Trainer (3CT) to an HTML5-based hybrid application that can be accessed through the Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) application. As a result, Joint Warfighters globally will gain cross-platform accessibility.

A NATO commissioned serious game, Boarders Ahoy!, originally conceptualized by Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS), is the first of its kind to achieve full deployment on Google's Play Marketplace. A portion of the serious game commissioned by NATO-ACT and designed to improve the effectiveness of personnel during Maritime Interdiction Operations is now available to download for free from Google’s Play Marketplace.
ECS, teamed with Caspian Learning and Bohemia Interactive Simulations, developed a version of Boarders Ahoy! on the VBS Worlds platform for demonstration at the 2011 Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC).
