CBCTS Chosen as Winner in Government Category and People’s Choice Award during I/ITSEC Serious Games Showcase Event

December 3, 2009. Orlando, Fla. The U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) STTC and Engineering and Computer Simulations (ECS) announced today that “Computer Based Corpsman Training System” was chosen as the winner in the government category and the People’s Choice Award at the 2009 Serious Games Showcase & Challenge.  CBCTS, making history, as the first time a game has won in both categories.  The showcase occurs at the world’s largest simulation conference this week.  As a finalist, “Computer Based Corpsman Training System” was featured at the Serious Game Showcase & Challenge in the pavilion at the Interservice/Industry Training Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC).

The game, developed for the Marine Corps, builds on an earlier Army combat casualty care game.  The new game adds functionality and assessment and allows Marines to tailor missions, and create new scenarios to provide Marines realistic training.

“As a prototype game that has trained thousands of soldiers, we look forward to expanding the game”, said Beth Pettitt, the RDECOM STTC program manager.  “What we have provided today is an initial capability showcasing what can be accomplished for our warfighters.”

ECS President, Waymon Armstrong said, “Our team is delighted that CBCTS was selected as the winner for two such competitive awards.  We appreciate our 8-plus year partnership with RDECOM and look forward to enhancing our  future relationship.  This isn’t about us, it is about the warfighter, risking their lives daily for America’s safety.”
