ECS Nexus Platforms Scavenger Hunt at GameTech

March 30, 2010. Orlando, Fla. Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS) rolled out an elaborate one-hour scavenger hunt this morning during the Defense GameTech Users’ Conference.  The team-based exercise was a collaboration between ECS and the U.S. Army STTC.  The exercise integrated the Nexus Virtual World and a modification to the CryTek engine to provide non-combat support to a virtual village in Afghanistan.

The participants attended the training event in the Nexus Virtual World and were graded on both web-based tests and their performance on virtual mission. “As a civilian, I found the experience to be entertaining,” stated the winner, Jennifer Anderson, an Admissions Representative, Rasmussen College.  She even felt that the tool would be something her brother, a 20 year-old Marine, would find interesting.  “I am not an experienced gamer,” she said, “and I thought it was both easy to use and fun.”

The Scavenger Hunt was part of the 2010 Defense GameTech Conference taking place in Orlando this week.  ECS is an exhibitor, sponsor and presenter at the conference, a three-day user-focused event designed to promote game technology use for enhanced warfighter training.  It also serves as an update on gaming and virtual world projects and trends within the military.  The conference is sponsored by Team Orlando.  For more information:  www.teamorlando.org or www.ecsorl.com.
