Two Worlds Collide at the 2010 MT3 Conference: Mobile Medic Applications and the Virtual Medical Simulation Training Center
May, 3, 2010. Orlando, Fla. Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS) announced today that it will demonstrate, for the first time in public, the VMSTC (Virtual Medical Simulation Training Center). Always one-step ahead of the game, ECS has expanded their NEXUS availability from one delivery method to multiple delivery methods allowing access from desktop, mobile device and your browser.
The platform-independent VMSTC supports training objectives for different levels of care and adaptive content delivery based on the trainee’s learning style and proficiency. Additionally, it links 3D virtual worlds together to form Communities of Practice, interface standards and specifications to deliver different types of 3rd party content and multiple content types including courseware, serious games, mobile applications, simulations, and others.
“This virtual environment learning system is customized to the learner’s style”, stated Joe O’Connell, Vice President, Business Development, ECS. “By presenting the information in the most effective learning style for the individual, students can remain motivated to use the new learning technologies 24/7 inside and outside the classroom environment.”
ECS’ long-term vision is to run VMSTC similar to NEXUS emergency room, teaching cultural training to physicians via avatars. The first part of VMSTC will go live in August 2010. Simulation Training and Technology Center (STTC), Instructorless Training Technology (ITT) and Combat Life Saver (CLS) will be the first customer(s) to use the program. Eventually, everyone in the Army will be required to use it.
