ECS Expands National Guard Bureau Virtual World

May 29, 2008. Orlando, Fla.  Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS) announced today that it received a $3.7 million contract award from the National Guard Bureau Joint Training Directorate (J-7) to augment its Massive Multi-User Online Environment (MMOE), the Emergency Management Nexus (EM Nexus).  Under this contract, ECS will enhance the EM Nexus virtual collaborative environment to provide additional capability and functionality to the already successful Joint State Response Training System (JSRTS) program.

ECS will develop additional features to the EM Nexus virtual collaborative environment, including module navigational aides and additional virtual classroom capability.

LTC Gregory Pickell, NGB J-7, stated “The enhancements that will occur through this funding will provide increasing functionality to the Nexus architecture.  Emergency Management organizations at all levels will see both training and operational value from the collaborative tools being added to this new capability”.

ECS president, Waymon Armstrong stated that “ECS is pleased to augment the Nexus environment under this contract.  Users of this technology will have more engaging, productive training and ability to collaborate with other users in a more efficient manner.  The Nexus will enable both formal and informal knowledge transfer through this secure 3D social network.”
