ECS Presents at Federal Virtual Worlds Expo
Orlando, Fla. Engineering & Computer Simulations, Inc., (ECS), in conjunction with the National Guard Bureau’s Joint Training Directorate (J-7), presented two briefings at the recent 2008 Federal Virtual Worlds Expo held at the National Defense University. ECS President, Waymon Armstrong, gave a presentation entitled “Weapons of Mass Instruction: The Emergency Management Nexus (EM Nexus)”. He discussed the legacy of virtual worlds and focused on the unique EM Nexus Massive Multiplayer Online Environment (MMOE) architecture designed to meet the National Guard and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) training requirements.
ECS Director of Engineering, Howard Mall, also presented at the expo. His discussion, entitled “Focusing the Emergency Management Nexus, elaborated on the necessity to focus on the training and collaborative features of the EM Nexus. The training theme put the EM Nexus design decisions at odds with those made for other MMO Gaming (MMOG) entertainment environments. This places EM Nexus in a unique position of being immediately relevant to the military’s needs, in addition to commercial corporate requirements.
