Every Soldier’s a Sensor: Mission Editor (ES3)

“Every Soldier is a Sensor” is an educational game designed to help soldiers train to be aware of their surroundings and aims to improve a soldier’s basic observing and reporting skills. A mission editor allows a user to combine a 3D terrain, objects, and figures with other 2D assets to accommodate a range of mission specific scenarios. ECS was contracted to make modifications to the mission editor after the original developer left the program.

The mission editor offers the ability to customize scenarios using assets stored in both global and local repositories. It provides for the placement and modification of game assets and entities used within the game. New assets (e.g., images, audio files) can be loaded into the editor so that the scenarios can be tailored to the local operating environment.

Key Takeaway: The mission editor is a highly adaptable tool that accommodates any thinkable scenario and allows customized local training scenarios to be developed intuitively to a commander’s training needs in the field.
