Waymon Armstrong

Waymon Armstrong | CEO
Recognized as both a pioneer and visionary in the simulation and training industry, founder Waymon Armstrong provides strategic leadership to ECS. Armstrong has been consistently recognized for his community contributions, entrepreneurship, and business leadership by customers, the community, and industry organizations. He is a frequent speaker at global, national, and local conferences, including keynoting at I/ITSEC, MODSIM WORLD, and SMART Awards, and speaking at the Florida Simulation Summit, Associated Industries of Florida Health Summit, and numerous technology-related panels. He has chaired the Orange County (Florida) Mayor’s Modeling, Simulation and Training Blue Ribbon Commission; Leadership Orlando; and Orlando, Inc. He has also been recognized as a Pioneer Award finalist in the MS&T’s Industry Simulation & Training Awards and as the Entrepreneurial Vanguard at the Mid-Florida Business Hall of Fame by the Junior Achievement of Central Florida. In addition, Armstrong has been honored as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Award Finalist five times; National Small Business Administration (SBA) Small Business Person of the Year, Valencia College Alumni Association Distinguished Graduate, I-4 Business Entrepreneur of the Year, and Orlando Business Journal CEO of the Year, as well as many other distinctions locally, regionally and nationally. Armstrong is a board member and Chair of the Chairman’s Council of GrowFL and serves on the boards of the University of Central Florida Research Foundation and the Camaraderie Foundation.

Mick Golson

Mick Golson | President
Mick Golson leads the technical and creative services teams and oversees the firm’s vision, strategy, and operations. With more than 30 years of experience leading high-profile and challenging programs at the executive, management, and supervisory levels, Golson has managed groups focusing on software engineering, training development, logistics, program management, and information technology within government and private sectors. As a USAF veteran of 29 years, he served in the highest enlisted position for several operations and functional specialties, including an assignment to the Pentagon. He has several published papers in the fields of human dimension modeling in tactical level environments: The Importance of Agile Combat Support (Logistics) in Today’s Military Environment and Towards Simulating the Complex Nature of Asymmetric Operations in Tactical Immersive Environments.

Teresa Sturges

Combining her experience in accounting, process improvement, and customer service, Teresa Sturges ensures all financial and management processes are followed to ensure positive results for clients and the entire organization. She incorporates her analytical approach to best practices, strong internal processes, and she understands the importance of meeting clients’ needs. With a background as senior accountant and financial analyst in the Central Florida MS&T industry, and a graduate of both the University of Central Florida and Rollins College-Crummer Graduate School of Business, Sturges has strong regional and technical connections.

Shane Taber

Shane Taber | Chief Technology Officer
As CTO of Engineering & Computer Simulations, Mr. Taber focuses on the development of innovative emerging technologies for use in military training and education. In his time at ECS, Mr. Taber has been instrumentally involved with developing and designing several flagship simulations and technologies, including the Tactical Combat Casualty Care Sim (TC3Sim) and VA Virtual Medical Center (VA-VMC). Throughout his professional career, Mr. Taber has continually advocated and explored the application and utilization of emerging media and technology for learning, education, and training, including Extended Reality (XR), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Synthetic Training Environments (STE), and haptics. Mr. Taber has filled various duties and roles including Creative Director, Project Manager, and Development Director, and currently serves as part of the Senior Leadership Team. Prior to working at ECS, Shane worked in academic research at the Institute for Simulation and Training (IST) developing cutting-edge research projects, simulations, and technologies in the emerging technologies of Mixed Reality (MR) for application within military, science museums, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Mr. Taber holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Digital Media and Interactive Entertainment form the University of Central Florida, providing a foundation in fine art, video production, game design, digital media, and 3D visualization. He is also a Certified Scrum Product Owner and holds certificates in project management and CMMI.

Richard Madrid

Richard Madrid | Vice President of Global Services
Rich Madrid joined ECS in 2014 as the Operations Program Manager, supporting the Air Force Medical Modeling and Simulation Program (AFMMAST) and later served as the Deputy Program Manager, Medical Modeling and Simulation Training (MMAST), where he was responsible for all program execution and operations. Madrid is adept at leading the Global Services team and maintaining relationships with key military, government, and industry partners. He has been a panelist at the National Modeling & Simulation Coalition (NM&SC) National Meeting, where he addressed “Developing the Future Workforce for Modeling, Simulation, & Visualization (MS&V)” and has presented at other industry conferences. Madrid had a distinguished USAF career where he held numerous leadership positions. After retiring from the military, he pursued his interest in medical simulation education as a program coordinator. ECS recognized him as Employee of the Year in 2016.

John Jansen

John Jansen | Vice President of Contracts
John Jansen has over 30 years of contracting experience, extensive professional experience in key management positions and a portfolio of specialized skills in government and military contracts and procurement actions. Jansen performs the critical roles of maintaining ECS’s contract compliance, and helping the company reach its growth targets while providing superior contract management support to its current government and commercial customer base. His experience includes issuing, evaluating, awarding, and managing multiple high-dollar, complex, multi-type Contracts and Delivery Orders for the all Branches of the U.S. Department of Defense, with special emphasis in support of the Army’s Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training & Instrumentation (PEO STRI), and various offices within the Air Force in addition to multiple independent and executive agencies, such as NASA, Office of Personnel Management (OPM), National Science Foundation (NSF), Defense Health Agency (DHA), and others. He also supports the line of commercial contracts at ECS for a wide array of industry customers. Jansen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, specializing in economics, from the University of Central Florida, as well as a Master of Science degree in contract and acquisition management, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Florida Institute of Technology.

Andrea Rodriguez

Andrea Rodriguez | International Programs and Compliance Manager
Andrea Rodriguez has more than 22 years of experience in international business, trade compliance, and program management—particularly in defense and global operations. At ECS, she leads compliance initiatives that ensure adherence to international trade and immigration regulations while managing risks tied to global transactions and deployments. As Deputy Program Manager for the Army’s TADSS Maintenance Program in Korea and Ft. Irwin, she oversees day-to-day operations and site coordination to support Army training objectives. Rodriguez is highly skilled in navigating complex areas such as global entry requirements, work permits, import/export controls, and sanctions compliance. She has a strong track record in streamlining procurement processes, negotiating cost-effective contracts, and ensuring timely delivery in high-pressure environments. She collaborates effectively with internal teams, government agencies, and international partners to advance operational efficiency and compliance. Rodriguez holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a focus on Criminal Psychology and an MBA in International Business with an emphasis on International Relations and Policy.

Candace Croughwell

Candace Croughwell | Capture and Proposal Manager
As Capture and Proposal Manager, Candace Croughwell leads efforts to grow ECS’s presence in the federal and defense sectors. She identifies new opportunities, develops competitive capture strategies, and forges teaming relationships that support ECS’s continued success. Before joining ECS, Candace served as a federal account manager at a business management consulting firm, where she led cloud solution engagements with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure. She also directed enterprise partnerships and managed subcontracts at a software development firm, building a track record of long-term government relationships. Candace actively contributes to the defense and innovation community through her involvement with Women in Defense and the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC).
