Engineering & Computer Simulations, Inc. (ECS) has been awarded new task orders to modernize and sustain the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Operations Schoolhouse’s (EOS) suite of simulators and mobile training applications at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey. The work builds on ECS’s continuous support to the EOS since 2017 and focuses on keeping digital training tools secure, current, and aligned with mission requirements.

The latest awards include upgrades to the Aircraft Maintenance Planning Simulator (AMPS) and the Maintenance Supervision and Production Course (MSPC) Aircraft Status Simulator. This comes after recent improvements were made to the Installation Deployment Officer (IDO) Simulator and several mobile training apps used in the expeditionary curriculum.

“These systems train the personnel who execute and sustain global operations,” said Shane Taber, chief technology officer at ECS. “Our role is to ensure the technology behind that training keeps pace with the mission. When the tools stay relevant, Airmen stay ready.”

The EOS curriculum covers logistics, command and control, aircraft maintenance, mission planning, and status reporting. ECS’s ongoing work ensures the systems used in instruction continue to reflect current Air Force processes and technology, improving both student performance and instructor effectiveness.

Under the new task orders, ECS will:

  • Sustain and update multiple simulation platforms used across the EOS curriculum
    • Integrate new training content tied to current operational policies
    • Refresh interfaces and back-end systems for improved performance and user experience
    • Enhance instructor tools for monitoring progress and delivering feedback
    • Maintain cybersecurity and compliance for all deployed systems

“We are modernizing systems that are vital to how the United States Air Force teaches expeditionary operations,” Taber said. “These upgrades reduce training gaps, reinforce decision-making skills, and deliver more accurate mission rehearsal for the Airmen who will use them.”

ECS is currently in the third option year of its IDIQ contract supporting EOS, with the most recent task orders scheduled for completion in 2026. Several updated applications, including AMPS and IDO Sim, will be demonstrated at Booth 833 during I/ITSEC 2025. The IDO Sim was previously recognized as a finalist in the Serious Games Showcase and Challenge for its innovative approach to immersive scenario-based training.
