Tactical Combat Casualty Care Simulation tied for Best Serious Game.

December 10, 2021: Orlando, FL – Shane Taber, Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS) Vice President of Operations – Orlando, is pleased to announce that Tactical Combat Casualty Care Simulation (TC3Sim) received a People’s Choice award as the Best Serious Game in the business category in the Serious Games Showcase & Challenge (SGS&C). Developed for the U.S. Army Program Executive Office Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Project Manager Synthetic Environment, TC3Sim teaches and reinforces the concepts of combat medical training. The SCS&C winners were announced at a ceremony during  I/ITSEC on December 2; Legends of Europe by Regional Council of Brittany France and Succubus Interactive tied with ECS as a People’s Choice winner in the same category.

Taber says: “Our team is honored to have been selected by the I/ITSEC attendees as one of the People’s Choice Serious Game award recipients. We would like to thank all those involved – our team and partners, the SGS&C committee, and all those who voted. Like many of our ECS training products, TC3Sim supports our military’s game-based training needs and serves as an outstanding example of the use of modern game-based technology and development methodologies that are ideal for producing innovative, relevant, and engaging training content.”

Utilizing skill-driven scenarios to teach and evaluate a student’s knowledge of the essential tactics, techniques, and procedures required of an Army Combat Medic (68W) or Combat Life Saver (CLS), TC3Sim allows Warfighters to train on-demand from any location on multiple platforms and supports both initial training and just-in-time refresher training. Each game-based scenario is a short, goal-oriented exercise that provides users the opportunity to train on key tasks within specific missions, such as the ability to assess casualties, perform triage, provide initial treatment, and prepare a casualty for evacuation under battlefield conditions.

An updated version of a successful legacy program developed by ECS over the past 16 years, this enhanced version of TC3Sim features longer scenarios extending from Care Under Fire through Tactical Evacuation. The accuracy and detail of medical interventions have been improved to reflect the latest doctrine and tactics and the simulation now represents multiple branch services and roles including CLS and 68W.

Known as the foremost setting for recognition of excellence in the field of Serious Games development, SGS&C takes place during I/ITSEC which was held in Orlando, FL, from November 29 through December 3, 2021. The SGS&C finalists were evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges and I/ITSEC attendees also voted for the People’s Choice winners.

Another ECS training product, Joint Inspection Simulator (JI Sim), was named a SGS&C finalist in the government category. JI Sim was designed in support of the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Operations School in Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and teaches and strengthens the concepts of cargo inspection and preparation to ensure safe shipping on an aircraft.
